In terms of location, Le Petit Château benefits from being on the doorstep of peaceful countryside,
while equally not being too far off the beaten track. Located in the Northumbrian village of Otterburn,
Le Petit Chateau lies on the picturesque banks of the River Rede which is well known for trout and salmon fishing.
If you fancy exploring the surrounding countryside, a favourite of walkers and equestrians is the 2-mile, gently sloping Otterburn Village Trail, which starts and finishes at the nearby Otterburn Mill. This is a great way to explore the countryside with opportunities to see the local wildlife, including Moorland birds, wild goats and sometimes the rare black grouse. Otter footprints can also be spotted in the mud along the banks of the River Rede.
Other attractions include some of the richest archaeological landscapes in the North of England at the 23,000 hectare wide Otterburn Ranges Training Area, and the nearby Otterburn Mill, a museum showcasing the wool milling and weaving history of the Redesdale Valley.
If you’re looking to travel a little further, the Great Kielder Forest & Reservoir are just 10 miles from Otterburn and offer brilliant opportunities for sports activities and family days out.
